24-hour rotating bezel
In addition to the traditional hour, minute and second hands, the GMT-Master II is equipped with an arrow hand that rotates around the dial once every 24 hours, and a bidirectional rotating 24-hour graduated bezel. The brightly colored 24-hour hand displays the “home” reference time in the first time zone, which can be read on the scale on the bezel. Thanks to an ingenious mechanism, travelers can easily set the local time by “jumping” hour by hour, operated by the winding crown: the hour hand can be adjusted forwards or backwards independently of the minute and second hands. This allows travelers to adapt to new time zones without affecting the accuracy of timekeeping.
Black dial
Like all Rolex professional watches, the GMT-Master II features a Chromalight display that is easy to read in any environment, especially in the dark. The large hands and hour markers feature simple triangle, circle and rectangle shapes and are filled with luminescent material for a long-lasting glow.
Oystersteel
Rolex uses Oystersteel for its steel cases. Developed by the brand, Oystersteel belongs to the 904L steel family. This alloy is most often used in the high-tech, aerospace and chemical industries, where extremely high resistance to corrosion is essential. Oystersteel is extremely durable and has an exceptional finish when polished, retaining its beauty even in the harshest environments.

This required several technical adjustments to the movement and the Superlative Chronometer certification, which required changes to the certification procedures as well as some final tests. The date display and the Cyclops lens have also been adjusted and moved to 9 o’clock.
